2009-2010 Semester Missions Opportuntities

Our semester mission opportunties, much like our summer missions, is spnsored by our collegiate

ministry division in conjunction with our association.  Working in partnership with the North American

Mission Board and various Baptist State Conventions, the CrossSeekers Campus Ministry actively

recruits college students to serve as a missionary on one of our college campuses throughout the 2009-

2010 school year.

While serving on a campus the semester missionary works closely with one of our campus directors,

reaching college students for Christ.  Their primary focus while on campus will be outreach and building

what we call missional communities.  These are small community groups where students can

experience the dimensions of a church (discipleship, worship, evangelism, service, missions) while

understanding what it means to be a follower of Christ.

The semester missionaries will be mentored one-on-one by the campus director where they are

primarily serving at as well as be mentored, as a group, by the metro director.  A primary  focus of

this mentoring will be spiritual and leadership development, discovering one's gifts and understanding

a little bit more where God may be directing you in your life's call. The  semester missionaries will

have the opportunity to serve with other college students, use their gifts and abilities, and exhibit

their passion for Christ in new and unique ways.

2009 Summer Missions

Summer missionaries CrossSeekers Campus Ministry is a Baptist Collegiate Ministry located in and around the metro area of

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  Metro Pittsburgh has approximately two million people with another one

million in the surrounding area. The purpose of the collegiate ministry during the summer months is to

aid our established/urban churches and church plants in furthering their vision and mission in the

community God has placed them in. We seek to provide these communities of faith with passionate

college students to assist them in telling the story of Jesus in a variety of ways to a variety of people.

Sports camps, Vacation Bible School, food banks, day camps, youth events, and retreats are just a

few of the ways where God's story will be told. The focus of the ministry for the summer will be

centered on three churches/ministries in our association. 1. Expressway Baptist Church (local church

passionate in reaching a diverse community in a suburban/rural setting. 2. Inner City Ministries

(urban church located in the heart of Pittsburgh where ministry in done and centered in a former

Jewish Synagogue). 3. Iron City Church (church plant reaching young professionals in the North Hills

area of Pittsburgh).  The summer missionaries will also be mentored one-on-one and in a group

setting by Corley Madden, a former staff member in our collegiate ministry. A primary focus of this

mentoring will be spiritual and leadership development, discovering one's gifts and understanding a

little bit more where God may be directing you in your life's call. The student summer missionaries will

have the opportunity to serve with other college students, use their gifts and abilities, and exhibit

their passion for Christ in new and unique ways.
